Barbra Lica

Barbra’s show is about the stories behind the songs. She invites her audiences to find commonalities through shared experiences, hopes, and fears as we navigate and celebrate the art of being human.

Barbra’s music bridges the gap between pop-jazz and American folk/country music, encouraging audiences of either genre to cultivate an appreciation for the other. Inspired by Western Swing and Patsy Cline’s vocal renditions of Irving Berlin, Barbra’s songs combine colours and rhythmic elements from contemporary Americana while preserving the complex harmonies and improvisational qualities of jazz. This cross-genre approach might remind listeners of such artists as Fiona Apple, Madeleine Peyroux and Norah Jones. She invites her audiences to find commonalities through shared experiences, hopes, and fears as we navigate and celebrate the art of being human.
