Art Reaches Manitoba is Manitoba Arts Network's provincial touring exhibition program. Each season, a curated selection of visual art exhibitions travels through partner galleries, libraries and cultural centres across rural and northern Manitoba, bringing contemporary work from professional artists, curators and collectives to communities throughout the province. Exhibitions are booked in one-month blocks, supported by MAN with crating, shipping, insurance, signage and artist fees.

What is the Manitoba Arts Network Call for Touring Exhibitions?
Manitoba Arts Network invites artists and curators to submit exhibition proposals for consideration in its provincial touring program. Selected exhibitions tour through a network of galleries and arts organizations across Manitoba.
Who can apply?
Professional artists, curators and collectives based in Canada are welcome to apply. Emerging, mid-career and established artists working in any visual art medium are encouraged to submit.
What types of exhibitions are eligible?
Eligible exhibitions may include painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, textile, video, installation and digital works. Both solo and group exhibitions are accepted.
Exhibitions should be adaptable to a variety of spaces and audiences.
What should I include in my submission?
A complete submission includes:
- Exhibition Proposal: A one- to two-page description of the exhibition, its theme and its components.
- Artist or Curator Statement: A maximum of 500 words about the creative process and intentions behind the work.
- Artist or Curator CV: Maximum three pages.
- Image List: Titles, dimensions, media and year for each artwork.
- High-Resolution Images: 10 to 15 JPEG images of the proposed works.
- Technical Requirements: Special installation needs or equipment.
Is there an application fee?
No. There is no fee to apply.
What are the selection criteria?
Exhibition proposals are evaluated based on:
- Artistic merit
- Cohesiveness of the exhibition
- Feasibility for touring
- Suitability for diverse audiences
- Alignment with MAN's goal of supporting cultural engagement in rural and northern communities
What are the deadlines and key dates?
- Submission Deadline: January each year
- Notification of Results: Within two months of the submission deadline
- Exhibition Tour Begins: Approximately two years after the call

How long is the touring period?
Selected exhibitions typically tour for 12 to 18 months, rotating between participating venues.
Are there any fees or compensation for selected artists?
Yes. Selected artists receive exhibition fees. Artists typically receive an honorarium of $200 per month while their exhibition is on tour.
If MAN secures a touring grant, artists are paid according to CARFAC standards for a specified number of venues.
Shipping costs are covered by MAN.
How will my work be promoted during the tour?
MAN creates a promotional package that may include exhibition guides, press releases, social media posts and posters.
Artists may also be invited to participate in talks, workshops and opening events.
Can I submit more than one proposal?
Yes. Applicants may submit multiple proposals, provided each is distinct and complete.
How do I submit my proposal?
MAN's call for touring exhibitions typically opens each January. Proposals are submitted through the online application portal during the call period.
