Theatre Tour Readiness Program

This FREE program is for Manitoba and Saskatchewan theatre artists. Critically-acclaimed theatre artist Stephanie Morin-Robert (Blindside, Eye Candy) will mentor them on national and international showcasing and touring (online through zoom).

This program is intended for smaller theatre companies and independent theatre shows (including Fringe theatre) with up to 5 actors, using minimal sets and lighting, and with an ideal show length of 60-90 minutes.

A program offered by the Manitoba Arts Network, and Saskatchewan Association of Theatre Professionals.

Meet This Year’s Mentees:

Jessica Gares is an actor, director, dancer, filmmaker, and collagist from Treaty 4 Territory(Regina). She graduated from Vancouver Film School’s Acting for Film and Television Program in 2012, before travelling across Canada and to Europe, acting in and directing various film and theatre projects along the way. Since being back in Saskatchewan she has produced theatre and film projects that focus on social relevance and aim to create necessary conversations in our communities.

Chancz Perry has spent over 35 years in the entertainment industry – on stage, screen, site-specific, and behind the scenes. This multifaceted producer, administrator, choreographer, and triple-threat performer resides on Treaty 4 territory in Regina.

Charlene Van Buekenhout is a Metis /Belgian Canadian theatre maker based on Treaty 1. Charlene and her company Echo Theatre have produced over 20 productions in under 20 years together. Charlene works in almost every genre of theatre as a producer and a performer filling out her shows with obsessions like Crankies, shadow puppets, tap dancing, and her own family!

Sydney Hayduk is a gender fluid, neurodiverse, renaissance person with an extensive theatrical background. From Writer, to Performance Artist, to Producer, to Stage Manager, to Art and Expressive Arts Therapist; Coming from Winnipeg’s cold climate, they never could quite stand still.

Adam Schwartz is an award winning autistic comedian, playwright and advocate. He has performed in a wide variety of settings, from the Winnipeg Comedy Festival to the Human Rights Museum, and was a runner up for Rumor’s Comedy Club’s Winnipeg’s Funniest comedian with a day job contest. His non-profit organization Neurohilarity creates space for neurodiverse artists to be heard. His favorite fictional character is Winnie the Pooh and his favorite colour is Orange.

David Sealy is a playwright living in Regina, Saskatchewan. He won the City of Regina Writing Award for an early version of The Weavers, a neo-noir depiction of rural Saskatchewan. He subsequently produced the play as part of On Cue Performance Hub’s Test Drive season in 2022. His comedy/adventure/romance, The Bob Shivery Show, was produced in Calgary at Lunchbox Theatre.

Stephanie Morin-Robert is a Franco-Canadian, critically acclaimed Canadian multidisciplinary artist who successfully and extensively tours recognized festivals and venues across the globe. Her work as a performing artist has been celebrated by a wide range of audiences, critics and producers with sold out runs, raving 5-star reviews, and multiple awards underlining her outstanding talent, professionalism and charm.
